The longest day ever.(gift regestry)

OK, it has been been awhile...
But it isn't because we have been goofing off.
We have been shopping around, and looking at things. Double checking our lists and meeting with people. Today we went to the mall to buy some things that we needed to get at the mall and we choose to take a trip to Macy's. We looked for hours and hours, we got a free bag too. A few months back we went to Target, we had fun. The people at Target were less pushy, but less helpful. The exact opposite was true at Macy's. Also If you don't know what to get us? Get us a Macy's gift card so we can use it for furniture.

So the long and the short of it is we are register at the following:

Oh how busy we've been...

WARNING: this blog has too many links

Well we're still jazzed about our new Pres., we just had a great Hallow e'en, we've both been busy with school(Christy with teaching, and Daniel re-learning how to use a PC in class).

Christy has been to The English Dept. to look for wedding dresses, and found one.
Daniel was busy at the H.P. Lovecraft Film Fest, and Daniel made a film of it for a friends website(sorry Portland people, we were in and out of Portland that weekend due to homework and cats).

We found a local caterer, as Daniel
WILL NOT BE ALLOWED TO CATER THIS WEDDING AT ALL!
We wanted to, but we figured, "eh, who needs all the trouble, plus we didn't feel like putting our friends to work.
So we made the choice to go with a local caterer.
We've been to a few florists, and finally found the right one(no link at this time).
At this time that is all(except that Christy is currently at a convention in SF, and Daniel is really bored).

Cakes, bugs, tables, and awesome

Hey everyone,
this is Christy and Daniel.
Oh my have we been busy as of late.

We have already figured out what we are doing in the way of invitations, last week we figured out the cakes we want as well(what are they? Well that is a secret, you'll just have to wait).

Christy hurt her ankle and has been resting for a few days, so we haven't had much done in the way of wedding stuff.
But as of the 18th we will have a better idea of what we'll want in the way of flowers.
Daniel has been keeping busy waiting for the school year to start by working on housework, cooking, and projects.
Currently the main projects have been re-finnishing a table with Christy.
Also Daniel has be
en working on printing, using a relief he and his friend Rosy made of Dynastes Horribullis.
(this is part of a much larger plan that you will all see come to fruition)
(an almost finished table)

How Engaging

This is Christy, and this is a post for the ladies (mostly). Since becoming engaged, I've been asked by many of my female friends and acquaintances: "How did he propose?" (this question is usually accompanied by a squeal of some kind) I feel like my answer is always kind of a letdown: we discussed it over dinner, and it wasn't necessarily a "romantic" moment for either of us (well, it was, but not like how it is in the movies). I mean, it was exciting, but we both kind of knew that we wanted to get married already, and the actual engagement talk was more about the logistics of everything rather than the drama and the mushy stuff.

So because of that, there was no proposal per se, and therefore there was no ring. I didn't really mind, because I've never been into jewelry, much less diamonds. But then when I told my parents that they were engaged, I found out that there was a ring that had been in my family for generations, back when my Dad's mom's side of the family owned half of the Pacific Northwest.* And this ring old, and fancy, and probably worth a fortune, and has a big fat diamond. Here is a picture of me wearing it (to prove that it exists):

Holy crap! Isn't that nice?? Needless to say, I'm terrified to wear it. When I told my dad that though, he said that my mom felt the same way and didn't wear it either! So that made me feel better.

But not to be bested by a 100+ year old heirloom, Daniel had other engagement-recognition plans. And this, my friends, is what it is (just got it today):

A full-on head-to-toe Adidas "engagement" tracksuit! I'm ridiculously excited. There's even a matching T-shirt...and shoes! Perfect for all occasions! Now I've got to start thinking of engagement presents for Daniel... maybe he needs an engagement tracksuit too! Any suggestions?

Oh, and speaking of engagement stuff, here are some pictures from the engagment/picnic games/sushi party at Emma and Johanna's the other week:

(An Imperial cheese tray, and fruit tray)

(Guess who we beat in beer pong...) More will be posted later, when we have more time and patience to upload and move around pictures on here. Talk to you soon!

*Not true, except it is, kind of. We're descended from Dorsey Sing Baker, of "Baker Boyer Bank" fame, as well as "Baker Faculty Center" and pretty much anything else named "Baker" in Walla Walla, and other parts of OR and WA. He had a really long beard.
